Herschell Spillman Carousel Frog
American, Country Fair Style.
Somewhat obviously, carousel frogs are extremely rare. Although there seems to be no record of how many were ever carved, two things were certain: 1. Herschell Spillman of North Tonowanda, New York was the only studio to create them, and 2. they did'nt create very many. Interestingly, the frog is the only carousel animal known to wear human apparel. A frog similar to this one is pictured on pages 70/71 of "The Carousel Animal" by Tobin Fraley. Another frog is featured on page 89 of Charlotte Dinger's "Art of the Carousel".
Estimate: $8,000 - $15,000
